About Marketing Automation Lab

Marketing Automation Lab is an independent practice portfolio focused on content-led customer journeys. It brings together lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, workflow design, conversion content, and experimentation in one place.

Why this lab exists

Marketing automation can easily become a set of disconnected messages or platform settings. This lab takes a different approach: begin with the customer’s decision journey, create content that answers real questions, and use automation to deliver that content at a relevant moment.

The work here is designed to show practical thinking across three different contexts: D2C FMCG, B2B technical products, and education. Together, these projects demonstrate how the same core disciplines - adapt to different purchase cycles and decision environments.

Approach

1) Customer-first
Start with the customer’s goal, information need, and barrier - not with a channel or tool.
2) Content-led

Treat every email, page, guide, and reminder as a useful part of the decision journey.

3) Data-aware
Use clear segments, behavioural signals, permissions, and workflow rules.
4) Experiment-driven
Document hypotheses and test deliberately.
5) Practical
Build assets and workflows that can be understood, reviewed, and implemented.

About the practitioner

I am Sudhakaran. A marketing communications professional with an interest in content strategy, lifecycle marketing, consumer journeys, and digital engagement. This lab documents a structured transition into marketing automation through independent practice projects, research, and hands-on workflow design.
Based in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu, India), I bring a research-oriented approach to marketing problems: break down the journey, organize the information, identify the decision points, and build communication that helps people take the next step.
