Playbooks

Practical frameworks that show how content, segmentation, workflow logic and measurement come together in a real customer journey.

Each playbook starts with a customer problem, defines the business outcome, maps the decision journey, and identifies the content, data, triggers, exclusions and success measures needed to make the journey work.

D2C project pathway: Root & Rise Hair Care

Root & Rise is the current completed-in-parts D2C practice project. It demonstrates how a visitor's first question - What routine should I start with? - can lead into a guided first purchase and a more helpful post-purchase experience.

Step 1: Turn uncertainty into a useful recommendation

Root & Rise Playbook 01: Hair Routine Quiz-to-Welcome Journey

Best for: First-time visitors who are unsure whether they need a simple routine, a Trial Kit or a full-size bundle.

This playbook explains how the Hair Routine Quiz captures a customer's stated concern, assigns a routine route, records consent, and sends useful follow-up guidance before introducing the most relevant purchase option.

It includes:

  • Quiz audience and route logic
  • Consent-based email capture
  • Welcome-sequence structure
  • Trial Kit and Bundle decision paths
  • Suppression rules, KPIs and A/B-test hypothesis
  • Direct links to the quiz, results pages, product listing, Trial Kit and Bundle assets

Step 2: Help the buyer use the Trial Kit successfully

Root & Rise Playbook 02: Trial Kit Post-Purchase Education, Review and Repeat-Purchase Journey

Best for: New Trial Kit buyers who need clear product-use guidance before being asked to review, upgrade or repurchase.
This playbook moves beyond the first sale. It shows how delivery timing, product education, feedback, customer-support safeguards and product-interest signals can guide a customer from their first wash-day experience to a relevant next step.
It includes:

  • Delivery-based workflow timing
  • Cleanse-condition-finish education sequence
  • Review-request governance and support escalation
  • Full-size Bundle and weekly-care branches
  • Consent, suppression and repeat-purchase exit rules
  • Measurement plan and education-first testing hypothesis

Step 3: See the customer-facing output

A playbook is not only a strategy document. It should lead to real assets that a customer could see, read, click or use.
The Root & Rise asset pack includes:

  • Hair Routine Quiz and results-page copy
  • Product listing and individual product-page copy
  • 3-Step Trial Kit landing page
  • Hair Fall Care Bundle page
  • Routine-guide and lifecycle email copy
  • Review Collection Page
  • FAQ and preference-management copy
  • Educational hair-care article concepts

How to use a playbook

Use a playbook before creating a workflow or writing campaign copy.
  1. Start with the customer action you want to influence.
  2. Define the audience, context, questions and barriers.
  3. Identify the available data, consent requirements and entry trigger.
  4. Map the messages, content assets, decision branches and exit rules.
  5. Choose one primary outcome and a small set of supporting metrics.
  6. Turn the plan into a workflow build sheet, copy brief or measurement template.
  7. Review the final website, email and landing-page assets created from the framework.

Standard playbook structure

Objective: The business outcome and customer action to influence
Audience: The segment, decision context and key barriers
Entry trigger: The behavior, form submission, purchase or status that starts the journey
Content sequence: Messages and assets matched to customer questions
Workflow logic: Delays, conditions, branches, suppression and exit criteria
Measurement: Primary metric, supporting metrics and guardrails
Experiment: A focused hypothesis, variable and decision rule
Asset handoff: The specific web pages, emails, guides or forms produced from the playbook
